Holker Hall

Holker Hall is the finest house in South Lakeland. The gardens are winners of Christies/HHA Garden of the Year in 1991, and voted ‘amongst the best in the world’ by the Good Gardens Guide, 1996. The pleasure grounds cover 25 acres of formal and woodland gardens, with majestic water features including the limestone cascade.

Hoghton Tower

Hoghton Tower is a fortified manor house and stands on a hilltop site on the highest point in the area. It takes its name from the de Hoghton family, its historical owners since at least the 12th century. The present house dates from about 1560–65.

Thornbridge Hall

Thornbridge Hall is a Grade II listed stately home nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Peak District. Set in 80 acres of stunning parkland, it is the family residence and a private home. The Hall and its 10 acres of formal gardens have been lovingly restored and is now recognised as one of the most beautiful, quirky stately homes in the U.K.

Wentworth Castle

The beautiful gardens and parkland at Wentworth Castle are the only Grade 1 listed landscape in South Yorkshire. The estate contains many remarkable features, and is of great historical significance, yet the house and monuments have their origins in a fierce family rivalry. Note: house closed to visitors as it houses Northern College, which offers residential adult education courses.

Wentworth Woodhouse

Wentworth Woodhouse is truly a hidden gem and is full of remarkable stories. With the longest façade in the UK, a suite of grand State Rooms and 50 acres of private gardens filled with wildflower meadows, ancient trees, 18th century follies and historic plants. One of the biggest gardens we have visited.

Rode Hall

Rode Hall is a beautiful early eighteenth century country house with a fine collection of porcelain and extensive gardens. Home to the Wilbraham family since 1669, the extensive grounds boast a woodland garden, formal garden designed by Nesfield in 1860, a stunning two acre walled kitchen garden, which provides produce for the farmers’ market and tearooms and a new Italian garden.

Dorfold Hall

Dorfold Hall is a magnificent brick and stone gabled Jacobean house nestled in 800 acres of idyllic English countryside. Originally built in 1616 Dorfold Hall is surrounded by enchanting gardens and woodland. Oozing old English charm at every corner, it makes for a breathtaking country house to visit.

Lyme Park

Lyme Park is a large estate south of Disley, Cheshire, England, managed by the National Trust and consisting of a mansion house surrounded by formal gardens and a deer park in the Peak District National Park.
